SusanCoates1I am a freelance Lyric Soprano soloist, singing and piano teacher based in Chippenham, Wiltshire with a career in both performance and music education.

As Founder and Artistic Director of Opera Sulis I perform as part of the ensemble and as a soloist. I enjoy singing as a guest soloist with choral societies, opera companies and for private events. My repertoire includes opera, sacred music, songs from the shows and jazz standards.

My qualifications and professional training can be viewed here.

Throughout the Pandemic I have taught online using Teams, Zoom and Skype and will continue to do so, for private students, until September.  I am returning to face-to-face lessons in both my schools after Easter.

I work as a visiting singing and piano teacher at St Mary’s School, Calne and Stonar School, Atworth  near to my home in Chippenham, where I also teach at home in my purpose built music room, complete with a real Yamaha C1 Grand Piano.

I have a growing number of adult students for both singing and piano, from beginner to more advanced standards.  If you have ever wanted to have some singing or piano lessons, in a friendly and encouraging environment, why not follow your dreams and get in touch?

I enjoy helping students prepare for entry into higher education with audition preparation and personal statement coaching.  I have recently started to offer lessons in French for children and adults who need to brush up on useful phrases for holidays etc.

I am a full member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (FISM) and the Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS). I have full DBS clearance.
