It’s been a busy few days, sorting out timetables at both my schools, my private pupils and organising rehearsals for my three forthcoming performances. The first is an Operatic Gala in aid of Dorothy House Hospice and is in memoriam of my former colleague at Stonar School, Mrs Sandy Muir, who sadly passed away from cancer in June.
I am delighted that my dear friend Phillip Borge, himself a cancer survivor at the young age of 35, will be joining us as our Tenor soloist for the evening. I first met Phil when he was a student at Bath Spa University when we sang together in Bath Opera. I was the age he is now!! Ouch! Phil soon became a member of the family, spending weekends with us and baby sitting my kids from time to time. Then, London called and he went on to study at The Royal College of Music. He later returned to his home in Gibraltar, where he continues to sing on a professional basis.
I am also looking forward to singing with Bass, Ashley Bremner, who is no stranger to the professional operatic stage, being a member of Welsh National Opera and having performed in the West End on many occasions. Sophie Meehan’s delightful light Mezzo- Soprano is particularly well suited to our tribute to Gilbert and Sullivan and it is always a pleasure to be accompanied by Nick Goodall on piano.
The concert takes place at Melksham United Church on Saturday 29th September, starting at 7.30.pm. Tickets are £10 and available on the door or by reserving in advance (advised) by contacting Opera Sulis via Facebook or email@example.com
